Planning a Disney World trip can be tricky, but we’re here to help in any way we can!
If you’re traveling to Disney World in November, you’ll need to be aware of some changes, dates, and possible missteps that could befall you during your trip. But don’t worry — we’ll give you all the details on what to look out for so that you have the best November trip possible!
Traveling to Disney World in November can get a little tricky, especially this year. Changes have made travelers adjust their itineraries; special events will cut park hours short, and the weather can get pretty confusing. We’re here to point out three mistakes you could make next month so that you avoid them altogether and win Disney World!
Not Studying Up on the Lightning Lane Changes
Hey, remember Genie+? Fun-ish times, right? Well, that system was completely wiped away over the summer and replaced with new skip-the-line options.
Genie+ was ultimately replaced by Lightning Lane Single Pass and Lightning Lane Multi Pass. Both Lightning Lane Passes can be purchased before your trip with Lightning Lane reservation windows several days before your trip (how many days depends on where you’re staying). However, they differ in function.
Lightning Lane Single Pass is used to specifically reserve Lightning Lane access for single attractions. These attractions include:
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
- TRON Lightcycle/Run
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
- Avatar Flight of Passage
As for Multi Pass, this is a tiered system where you get way more options and can continue to replenish your reservations as you use them (within a set of rules, of course). With this system, ahead of time, you can select one attraction from the first tier and two attractions from the second tier, or three attractions from the second tier. To learn more about how Lightning Lane Multi Pass works, check out our video guide below!
Now, there’s a third type of Lightning Lane Pass: Lightning Lane Premier Pass. This pass kicks in on October 30th and will also allow you to skip the standby lines of all participating attractions at a Disney Park once per day. The pass will only be available to guests staying at Deluxe and Deluxe Villas hotels and can be purchased up to seven days in advance of their stay (except for launch day).
The pass will be park-specific and will have different pricing based on the park and date. The big difference here is that you do NOT need to reserve Lightning Lanes ahead of time. We’ve seen prices range from $129 to $449 per person. As of now, no Park Hopper option has been announced.
To learn everything there is to know about this Premier Pass, check out our guide below and continue to follow us as we live-test the new system when it’s rolled out.

Going to Magic Kingdom or Disney’s Hollywood Studios on Party Nights
Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios are amazing to visit in November and during the holiday season — but there is a catch.
Magic Kingdom offers Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party on select nights, which will shorten park hours at “The Most Magical Place on Earth”.
This year’s Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party dates are as follows:
- November: 8, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, 19, 21, 22, 24, 26, 27, and 29
- December: 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 13, 15, 17, 19, and 20
The event takes place from 7PM to midnight, forcing Magic Kingdom to close at 6PM.
Over at Hollywood Studios, Disney Jollywood Nights is another holiday party that shortens park hours for non-party-goers.
Jollywood Nights dates are as follows:
- November: 9, 13, 16, 18, 23, 25, and 30
- December: 2, 7, 11, 14, 18, and 21
This event goes from 7:30PM to 12:30AM and closes the park to the general public at 7PM on event nights.
If you plan on attending either event: GREAT! Then you won’t have to worry about park hours. However, if these events aren’t on your itinerary, you should either maximize your time at each park or go to another park instead on event days.

Forgetting to Pack a Jacket
Several tourists visit Disney World in the fall and winter to escape bad weather, but that doesn’t mean that it’s always 75°F and sunny in Central Florida during November!
While warm weather still happens in November, it can get pretty chilly at night, believe it or not! The winter months actually do present a bit of cold, and while that can be a pleasant change from the blistering hot summer, it can also be unexpected to many.
Our advice? Pack a jacket. If you come prepared, the worst-case scenario is you simply won’t need it. However, if you leave your jacket at home and find yourself freezing, the worst-case scenario becomes you overspending on a sweater or jacket that you otherwise wouldn’t have likely bought.
Bringing a jacket will provide extra comfort, save you money, and make you extra prepared in case Disney World gets a bit chilly.
