Fright fans (and Eddie Munson stans) rejoice as Stranger Things is officially returning to Halloween Horror Nights in 2023. This is the third house announcement we have received for the 2023 lineup. Those who brave this maze will be met with the story from season four, which aired in 2022, giving us some new friends and menacing foes.
In addition to today’s thrilling house announcement, four nights of fear have been added to the Halloween Horror Nights lineup. From November 1 through November 4, push off the post-Halloween blues and head over to the ultimate fright fest at Universal Studios Florida.
If you are unfamiliar with one of the most popular Netflix television shows of all time, we are here to fill you in on what you’ve missed and give you a hand to pull you out from under that rock. Don’t worry – no spoilers here. Over the course of four seasons, Stranger Things tells the paranormal tale of a small town’s strange encounters with an alternate dimension – the Upside Down. The world’s fate is in a group of preteen’s hands, who encounter kidnappings, possession, foreign governments, and more while also navigating their own lives in the 1980s.
The fifth and final season was announced, but filming has been delayed due to the current Writers Guild of America strike.
As noted before, this isn’t the first time we have seen the crew from Hawkins, Indiana at Halloween Horror Nights. We were initially transported to the Upside Down and the events of season one during 2018’s HHN in a dedicated house. As a first for Universal Orlando Resort, the Stranger Things house was available after the conclusion of HHN 28 during daytime park operation on November 6, 2018 – the anniversary of the day Will Byers initially disappeared into the Upside Down. The following year, seasons two and three were portrayed in a new house of the same name during HHN 29.
For both iterations of this 80’s tale, Halloween Horror Nights creatives worked closely with Netflix’s Stranger Things team to ensure an accurate portrayal. Walking through these houses, you would be met with familiar faces from the screen, paired with dialogue from the show and a few Demogorgon jump scares in typical Horror Nights fashion.
Looking forward to this year’s haunts, we anticipate the same caliber level as season four’s story unfolds in front of our fearful eyes. Step into the Upside Down during Halloween Horror Nights 2023, running select nights from September 1 through November 4.
